IBMC (founded in 1944) currently has the leading positions in Russia in proteomics; bioinformatics and computer-aided drug discovery; nanobiotechnology. As of January 1, 2007, the Institute numbers 225 people as a permanent staff, of which 131 researchers including 3 Full Members of Rus. Acad. Med. Sci., 13 professors, 30 Doctors of Sciences, and 67 Candidates of Sciences (Ph.D.s). Institute carries out R & D supported by International and Russian foundations & programs (FP6, INTAS, The Wellcome Trust, ISTC, CRDF, RFBR, FASI, etc.) and applied projects on the basis of contracts with the industry.
Main tasks on OpenTox:
- Preparation of information necessary for creating QSARs/QSPRs for physical & chemical properties, human & environmental toxicity on chemical compounds from the TERA database
- Development of algorithms for calculation of Neighborhoods of Atoms descriptors (MNA, QNA)
- Development of new chemical descriptor classes
- Development of new algorithms of regression analysis based on Self-Consistent Regression (SCR)
